Workshop showcases arbitration talent

Hong Kong, 29 January 2026: Our Consultant John Zhou and Associate Jasmine Kwong were pleased to represent BC&C and hone their advocacy skills at the eighth annual HK45 x Alvarez & Marsal Cross-Examination Workshop.

Held at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), it was the latest edition in a flagship programme designed to give young lawyers the experience of practising before eminent arbitrators. Each two-member team had the chance to cross examine an expert witness from management consultants Alvarez & Marsal, deliver succinct closing statements, and receive constructive feedback from the tribunal members.

Says John: “We were honoured to take part in this signature workshop alongside lawyers from leading international firms, thus positioning BC&C alongside top-tier peers and enhancing our visibility in Hong Kong’s elite arbitration community. Our thanks go to the organisers for a marvellous event.”

BC&C’s arbitration proficiency means the firm is handling an increasing number of cases. Our team is led by Senior Partner Colin Cohen, who is admitted as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and serves on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

Jasmine adds: “It is worth noting that Hong Kong’s global arbitration reputation is at an all-time high. Our city’s strong regulatory regime and rule of law, geographical advantages and value-for-money legal services combine to give us a huge competitive edge in the global arbitration market.”

Based at HKIAC headquarters in Central, HK45 is for young arbitration practitioners in Asia and beyond. Its aims are to promote the use of arbitration and Hong Kong as a seat, provide a platform for members to further their knowledge, and to help Hong Kong remain an inclusive and welcoming place for arbitration lawyers.
