Hong Kong, 3 June 2026: Networking sessions, keynote speeches, discussion panels and client meetings were all on the agenda when global legal services organisation Ally Law held its AGM in Buenos Aires.
The gathering – hosted by Argentinian member firm Richards, Cardinal, Tützer, Zabala, Zaefferer – attracted some 100 delegates from around the world, including Boase Cohen & Collins Senior Associate Claire Chow and Associate Cherie Kwan.
“The AGM was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about industry best practices, challenges in the global legal landscape and what makes law firms successful. As well, we were able to build relationships and better understand the experience and expertise of our overseas colleagues,” says Claire.
The keynote address was given by neuroscientist Dr Michael Platt, who led an interactive workshop designed to help members cultivate trust, deepen client relationships and enhance team dynamics. Delegates also heard a fascinating presentation by noted economist Andrés Borenstein, who explained the history and current state of Argentina’s economy and sounded a positive note about the financial reforms being carried out by the nation’s President, Javier Milei.
The AGM marked the first attendance by new mainland China member firm Chance Bridge, with Managing Partner Ning Zhu hosting a group session focusing on Chinese companies investing aboard. Adds Claire: “This was a really interesting discussion and there was general excitement among the group about the prospects of more collaboration between China and Latin America, particularly Brazil, with Hong Kong serving as a gateway.”
Other sessions focused on such issues as how a law firm gains its competitive edge, advising corporations and in-house counsel, the increasing use of artificial intelligence and the importance of marketing. Aside from business meetings, the AGM featured a busy social programme which included golf, city tours, fine dining and a day trip by ferry across the River Plate to Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Uruguay.
The gathering also saw outgoing Ally Law President Ramesh Vaidyanathan from India hand over the reins to successor Paola Sangiovanni. Representing Italian firm Gitti and Partners, she will serve a two-year term.
Ally Law comprises some 80 independent law firms with 2,800-plus professionals. It provides comprehensive legal services to major corporations worldwide and helps clients overcome their international business challenges. BC&C is the sole member representing Hong Kong.
BC&C will next attend the Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Bali in November while the 2026 AGM will be held in Dublin.
