Alex Liu joins MPFA review body

Hong Kong, 30 October 2023: Congratulations to Boase Cohen & Collins Managing Partner Alex Liu on his appointment as a member of the Process Review Panel for the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (PRP-MPFA).

Alex is one of two new members appointed to the 10-strong regulatory body by Financial Secretary Paul Chan, with his role commencing on 1 November for a term of two years. Eugene Fung SC continues as Chairman.

Aside from advising the MPFA on its procedures and operations, including the handling of complaints, the panel also produces an annual report for the Financial Secretary. A spokesperson for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau notes: “The PRP-MPFA comprises members from various sectors with professional knowledge and extensive experience.”

Says Alex: “I’m honoured to accept this appointment from the Financial Secretary and look forward to working with my panel colleagues in assisting the MPFA in exercising its statutory and regulatory functions.”

The new role underscores Alex’s dedication to public service. He contributes his time and knowledge to various financial and business-orientated organisations including the Travel Industry Authority of Hong Kong, where he is the Vice-chairperson of the Consumer Relations Panel, the Transport Tribunal, the Guardianship Board and the Hong Kong Small & Medium Enterprises Association.

Further, his stellar work in the community and for charitable initiatives, much of it extending from his long-time involvement with Lions Clubs International and the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association, has been recognised on numerous occasions by both the government and the Law Society of Hong Kong.
