Introducing ‘Your Sustainable Ally’

Hong Kong, 12 July 2023: BC&C is pleased to be part of a fantastic new initiative launched by global legal network Ally Law which aims to support clients, communities and member firms as they pursue their unique sustainability goals. “Your Sustainable Ally” focuses not only on protecting the environment, but also access to justice; diversity, equality and inclusion; and the health and wellness of firms, clients and communities.

“We believe sustainability is the future of law. As the first major legal network with a specific sustainability focus, our 80 member firms and 2,800 lawyers have committed to adopting business practices that protect the environment and preserve natural resources. To support our members in this endeavour, we’ve launched leadership and educational initiatives to help them deliver consistent, high-quality services over the long term,” says Ramesh Vaidyanathan, President of Ally Law and founder of Indian law firm Advaya Legal.

Ally Law leaders, including past-President and Expansion Committee Chairman Colin Cohen, have pinpointed four key pillars in the network’s sustainability drive:

  • Identify, adapt and adopt business practices that protect the environment and preserve natural resources.
  • Support leadership and educational initiatives that enable member firms to deliver consistent, high-quality service over the long term.
  • Work with governments, business leaders and NGOs to build strong, vibrant communities.
  • Provide collaborative counsel that helps clients achieve their business, compliance and dispute-resolution goals, now and in the future.

Ally Law has set up a dedicated page on its website where several firms have recorded videos conveying key messages. This includes BC&C, with Colin talking passionately about the firm’s pro bono work and community outreach.

Aside from its award-winning pro bono work, BC&C supports academic excellence and foundation programmes at three universities, provides funding for grassroots football and cricket, and is title sponsor of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Inter-School Sailing Festival. Further, the signature HKU-BC&C Criminal Law Lecture is one of the highlights of Hong Kong’s legal and academic calendar.

40+ years of legal experience is just a click away.
