Ties renewed in Kuala Lumpur gathering

Hong Kong, 6 December 2022: A busy agenda and multiple networking opportunities highlighted Ally Law’s long-awaited Asia Pacific Regional Meeting in Malaysia. The gathering was the region’s first in three years due to the global pandemic.

Boase Cohen & Collins Partner Fiona Chan and Associate April Kong were among the delegates who descended on EQ, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic hotel and hospitality venues. “It was wonderful to catch up with so many colleagues after the Covid-enforced break and to discuss the latest developments in law and related fields. The meeting underscored Ally Law’s enduring strength in Asia Pacific and commitment to enhancing its presence across the region,” says Fiona.

After group discussions, including a session moderated by Fiona themed “Managing Hybrid Work Environments’, attendees were given a presentation on the metaverse by technology expert Matt Armitage, who shared his thoughts regarding the post-Covid digital world.

The keynote address was delivered by a leading Federal Court Judge, the Right Honourable Nallini Pathmanathan, while the closing dinner speaker was former member of parliament Tony Pau, who offered an assessment of Malaysia’s political landscape. Delegates also enjoyed a range of social activities arranged by the host law firm, Raslan Loong, Shen & Eow.

It was the first Asia Pacific Regional Meeting since October 2019 when BC&C hosted delegates in Hong Kong. Next on the agenda is the 2023 AGM, scheduled for 14-18 March in Sydney.

BC&C is Hong Kong’s sole member of Ally Law, a worldwide grouping of more than 70 independent law firms which acts as a referral network and provides comprehensive legal services to major corporations.
