Presentation lifts lid on ‘vibrant’ Hong Kong

Hong Kong, 7 June 2021: Life in Hong Kong amid significant legal and governmental change was the topic of an online presentation delivered by our Senior Partner Colin Cohen to a global audience. In a talk entitled “Hong Kong: Myth vs Reality”, he detailed key points of the territory’s national security law and electoral reforms and explained how these are being implemented.

The session was organised by the Abraham Society, a UK-based discussion group with members all over the world which convenes twice a week to hear presentations on a wide range of topical issues and current affairs. Colin’s appearance was a sequel to his talk to the same group last July, shortly after the national security law came into effect.

“In this latest presentation, I made it clear that Hong Kong has been my home for 40 years and I have absolutely no intention of leaving. The fact is, for all its difficulties in recent times, this city remains vibrant, energetic and safe,” said Colin.

“I think that for many people overseas, their views on Hong Kong may be strongly influenced by Western media and comments from certain politicians, so this talk was aimed at cutting through the rhetoric and giving a balanced account of what life is like here. The audience showed great interest in what is happening in Hong Kong and we had a lively Q&A session to finish. I’m grateful to the Abraham Society for organising the session and giving me the opportunity to speak.”
