A helping hand for Mainland firms

Hong Kong, 22 July 2026: We are pleased to contribute to a new Department of Justice publication which highlights how Hong Kong firms are assisting Mainland enterprises to expand their business operations worldwide.

The 336-page reference manual, “Collection of Success Stories: Hong Kong’s Professional Services Supporting Chinese Mainland Enterprises Going Global”, showcases the knowledge and expertise provided by local firms across a range of industries. It is the second such publication from the DoJ as part of its initiative to help Mainland companies “go global”.

BC&C contributes two case studies in the legal section, illustrating our firm’s capabilities in corporate crime, regulatory investigations and insurance matters. The manual also covers financial services, accounting and business consulting.

Says our Partner Arthur Chan, who co-ordinated BC&C’s involvement in the project: “China’s rapid emergence as a global economic powerhouse means that enterprises across all sectors are looking to overseas markets for growth. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s unique status as the nation’s business gateway allows professional services firms here to assist with this expansion.

“At BC&C, we have considerable cross-border legal expertise coupled with global reach via our long-time membership of worldwide legal services network Ally Law. Thus, we are ideally placed to assist mainland business enterprises with their overseas development. We welcome the DoJ’s latest publication and are delighted to contribute.”

The manual showcases the value of Hong Kong’s professional services with three defining features:

  • Full business lifecycle coverage, including cross-border financing, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and restructuring, compliance and ESG regulations, tax planning, family office services, global intellectual property strategies, brand and reputation management, as well as cross-border litigation and arbitration.
  • Representation across diverse industries, such as internet technology, artificial intelligence, new energy, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, infrastructure and mining, shipping and ports, insurance services and consumer goods.
  • Global investment footprints spanning Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The DoJ’s assistance for Mainland enterprises stems from city leader John Lee’s 2025 Policy Address in which he outlined his vision for such collaboration. Thus, the Hong Kong Professional Services GoGlobal Platform was launched in December last year under the steer of the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Dr Cheung Kwok-kwan.

Aside from contributing to the latest publication, BC&C is on the panel list of Hong Kong legal services providers supporting the various GoGlobal initiatives.
