A day to remember for Joshua Tong

Hong Kong, 8 October 2019: There were scenes of celebration outside the High Court in Admiralty as Joshua Tong became the latest talented legal professional with Boase Cohen & Collins to be admitted as a Solicitor in Hong Kong.

Family, friends and work colleagues were on hand to share Joshua’s landmark day which was the culmination of years of law studies followed by a two-year traineeship with the firm.

“Joshua has made outstanding progress since joining us and we are delighted to see him take this important step in his career. As a newly admitted Assistant Solicitor we are confident he will become an increasingly important member of our legal team and enjoy a successful career with our firm,” said Boase Cohen & Collins Senior Partner Colin Cohen.

“We are very proud of our tradition of nurturing legal talent. We have now seen 11 young solicitors admitted in the past five years which illustrates our commitment to youth. Furthermore, the fact that half our Partners began their life in the legal profession with us demonstrates how we offer a clear career path and an opportunity to grow with the firm.”

Born in Sydney, raised in Hong Kong, Joshua studied law at City University of Hong Kong from 2012-16, during which time his summer work experience included an internship at the Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People’s Court. As well, he was a participant in the Global Legal Education and Awareness Project, which involved studies at University College, Oxford, and Monash University in Melbourne.

After graduating with first class honours in 2016, he remained at City University to complete his Postgraduate Certificate in Laws before joining Boase Cohen & Collins in the summer of 2017.
