BC&C teams up once more with Pink Alliance

Hong Kong, 19 February 2019: Boase Cohen & Collins is pleased to once again be a title sponsor of Hong Kong’s IDAHOT – the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Held on 17 May each year, IDAHOT draws the attention of lawmakers, the public and media to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people globally.

“We are a firm that believes in fairness and equality while always seeking to support community initiatives, so we are delighted to be continuing our backing for IDAHOT after our initial sponsorship last year,” commented BC&C Partner Lisa Wong.

“LGBT+ and inclusivity issues are receiving more public attention in Hong Kong, especially with regard to legislation, education and facilities. We will continue to assist the LGBT+ community in seeking equal rights and combating discrimination.”

The theme of IDAHOT 2019 is “Biphobia”, with Pink Alliance in Hong Kong organising a series of events to help educate the public about the double discrimination bisexual people sometimes face from both the outside world and within the LGBT+ community.

Outreach activities will include school discussions, a photography and art exhibition by local bisexual artists, a theatre workshop entitled The Same, Not the Same? and a series of talks by American anti-gay conversion therapy activist Sam Brinton.

The main event will take place on 17 May with “An Evening of Solidarity” at Chater Garden. An open-air screening of a film entitled Boy Erased will be accompanied with speeches by bisexual and intersex activists and performances by LGBT+ community groups.
